British women look in the mirror up to 71 times a day according to a survey. Among men, the worst offenders
find time to look in the mirror 66 times a day. Nationally men check their face 27 times on average each day, against 34 times
on average for women. The figure equates to women stopping at least once every half an hour in a day. Researchers questioned over
2,000 men and women and produced a league table of vanity. Liverpool, home of style conscious Wags Coleen McLoughlin and Alex
Curran, topped the poll as having the vainest women, with 71 looks in the mirror each day. London women came in second,
followed by Newcastle, Manchester, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast and finally Bristol, where women admitted
looking in the mirror just eight times a day. London was top among men, who admitted checking their reflections 66 times a
day, followed by Manchester, Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Cardiff, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Bristol and Belfast. British
people often get criticised for not being as image conscious as our European counterparts but this survey is the proof that they
love to check our appearance and look good. The survey also revealed that women reapplied their lipstick and make-up a staggering
11 times a day. Those in their 20's are the most image conscious with men and women aged 27 topping the league by checking
their appearance 52 times a day. People in their 60's clearly have better things to do. They look in the mirror just
five times a day.
A recent study found Britain to have more casual love than any other Western
nation. The study was conducted by asking more than 2ok people in 48 countries to fill out anonymous questionnaires. Participants
were asked about their number of partners and one-night stands, how many people they expected to sleep with in the next five
years, and what their attitude towards love was. The answers were given a numerical value, and while Britain scored 11th overall,
the country was the highest of all western nations (the US was 6th). Researchers blame Britain’s high ranking
on a few factors, including the decline of religious scruples, a highly popular culture, and the growth of equal pay and equal
rights for women. British women may be becoming more promiscuous than men, citing the popularity of a TV show in Britain about
a middle class prostitute who relished her numerous encounters” to illustrate his point. Further, the study found that
while “men tended to have the most partners, and to think most about acquiring new ones” in their twenties, women’s
promiscuity and lustful thoughts tended to peak in their thirties.
